Our History

In 1983 a group of women workers in Mt Druitt formed a network called Western Women’s Action Against Incest, with the aim of increasing community awareness about the prevalence of child sexual abuse and advocate for the establishment of specialist sexual abuse counselling services.

In 1986 a community education and assessment project identified the need for counselling services, leading the service to shift its priorities from education to counselling. In that same year the service adopted the name Rosie’s Place.
